PS3 sucks, now tell me why not to think so.

YEAH thats why they keep selling millions of copies of games. Yes Toadstool is such a better name and the changing of it to Peach completely ruined the game for me as welll. And oh yeah adding more diverse characters to the world made it worse...Cuz we all know how horrible WaLuigi and Wario are as characters and no one enjoys them at all. Hence why Wario even has his own series of games.


Really if thats the only thing you can say as a reason for why you would pick GTA over Mario then thats quite pathetic. The majority of gamers today would definitely pick a great Mario game over GTA anyday of the week guaranteed. You make it sound like the Mario universe has done a comple 180 when that isn't the case. Yes there have been changes but nothing major. Nothing that has destroyed the franchise. But hey thats an opinon. My opinion and that and I think a lot of people would agree. If anything GTA has only been out a few years and already the franchise is boring, stale, and repetitive. Thats been said by both fans of the earlier games, blogs, and columnists. I don't even hate GTA nor do I want it to be censored in any form but it is a lot of the same old stuff to be honest.

EDIT: o i forgot to awnser your question. the reason i would choose gta over mario is because gta gives you replay value (something mario doesnt offer) for example in gta i could probly spend a few days just doing nothign and just driving around kick random peoples ass.. the list goes on, its free roam you can do practically anything you want.

like i said MAJORITY(yes there will be the few people who will take mario over gta) OF current gen gamers would play gta over mario anyday of the week. and i am willing to bet(how ever much you want to bet) you that majority of current gen gamers would take gta over mario. when gta san andreas was released i saw people who i thought would never play games buying gta(something i have never seen happen with mario). Gta has a brouder audience than mario does. it goes the same for the wii, the wii offers alittle of everything for all ages young to old( and i mean senior old) hence the sales are very high, compared to ps3 and 360 which are more for hardcore gamers.

That is TRUE...I agree with you on that. But still replaying the same missions over and over again or running around the city doing the same crap can get boring after a few months or weeks. Thats what happened when I played True Crime on the Gamecube. Don't get me wrong. I loved the game and it was the sh*t but I steadly grew bored once I beat the main mission of course and was left with the city to explore.


Now to answer your question. If I had to pick ONLY one I'd pick Mario. My reason being Mario is ONE of a kind. As in there will never be another Mario and no other character can claim the Mushroom Kingdom as his home. Or Bowser as his enemy. Or Princess Peach/Toadstool as his secret lover (lol). So I'd play a Mario game for the unique once in a lifetime experience that goes with each Mario game I've played. And I'm not talking about Smash Bros or Mario Tennis. I'm talking Super Mario 64 (to date the best Mario game ever), Super Mario Sunshine, etc. Hopefully Super Mario Galaxy can top 64 cuz that was an incredible game. Once again I respect GTA and I do hope it does alright even though its on the p$3 but I honestly wouldn't pick it because a game like that will be made several times over in different variations and forms. Sure it won't be called GTA but it will basically be the same thing...

Anyways its getting late and I'm pulling an all nighter for this test while trying to write a paper for Spanish. Peace.

Since all of this right here, between what you say and I say, is subjective. There is no real answer to this that YOU can say. What we can say is that mario is being marketed at those who have not been around since the beginning. Meaning all those sales are because nintendo relies on their first party titles in which kids who have never played any mario games before are becoming fans. To them it IS new. To me and some others it IS not. Characters like Wario seem normal to the NEW fans, not the old ones. Its just akward and pathetic in my opinion. Hey i even used to watch the cartoons, the live action show and even own the live action mario movie. If they brought a character like wario or walugi in back then, people would have hated it. Anyways, your opinions as always are shoved down everyone elses throat and duely noted. God forbid someone have a different opinion than you. And when faced with facts, you are free to deny them all you want.

Honestly, you are calling the GTA series old, stale and boring. It can be said the same thing for mario. Its really subjective. You certainly do not have the right answer, no one does as there will never be a right answer.

But there is this to take into consideration: franchise evolution. How do the games change and grow? The thing about GTA is that is has come a long way since its first game. GTA 1-2 were different than GTA 3 (which included 3 different worlds, liberty city-vice city (1980s scarface spinoff with miami vice mixed in)-and San Andres (a southern california based gang banger senario). GTA 3 consists of 3 games in 3 different settings, its not supposed to be drastically different. Now here comes GTA 4, again changing the standards of gaming and really amazing everyone. Between how Mario games have changed over time and GTA games have changed over time, I would pick GTA.
Especially for the replay value.

I have yet to see a mario game that can really take advantage of user generated content. Take this gta game for example, players added mario into the actual game, and star wars vehicles.. and gundams... User made content is the future of gaming.

hahah you had to sneak that in didn't ya... for your info, gta is going to be on the 360 as well, and i don't know why it would fail even if it was only on the ps3, the gta series has done well in previous versions when they were on the ps2.

Umm yeah I'm an "OLD" fan of Mario since the day Super Mario World was out so I don't know what you're trying to say. I've watched the cartoons as a child and I've watched the movie which I thought was kinda good. You say I shove my opinions down peoples throats when thats really you. I realize that some people will prefer GTA over Mario. But honestly you're grouping all mario lovers into "old" and "new", stereotyping their preferences, and yet you critize me? Thats kinda shady in my opinion and never in a million years could anyone make that type of assumption. Then you go on this rant about how sales mean nothing...which is your excuse for everything you don't agree with it.

As for GTA IV chanigng things...you must be smoking something. Everywhere from IGN to Joystiq has basically said the trailer was kinda boring and nothing really new occured except the guy being Russian. Its may be amazing to YOU but you are NOT everyone although I'm sure you think you are. Frankkly its too early to even say that its going to revelutionize anything yet. I'm going to wait until an antual trailer with some meat comes out. But w/e the bottom line is that its subjective like you said and we each have our own opinion.

People like different game generes. I personaly do not like GTA but alot of other people do. GTA is a totaly different game then mario and alot of these GTA type games (scareface and godfather for example) are getting on the wii. Reggie him self has stated they are talking to rockstar and GTA may be on wii soon. PS3 is a great system and Wii is a great system the fact of the mater is at no time is everyone always going to like both sony and nintendo products.

The Wii and PS3 are aimed at a different market at different kinds of people. PS3 is quite expensive but if you have a HDTV and want a good blue disk player its an awsome investment and it also has some pretty good games with awsome graphics but graphics are not everything if Wii had PS3 graphics yes it would probly be a lot better but it would also be a lot more money and less of the average consumer (which nintendo is marketing to) would buy it. Game play can a lot of times out weigh graphics this is why PS3 is not always as good as Wii but if you can afford both then great you get best of both world.

In my oppinion sony made a mistake of releasing the ps3 right now because of how expensive they are to make( about $800 each PS3) if they were to do a little more research and figured out how to make them cheaper then they wouldnt be in the financial trouble they are in now. Im just going to tell you this I own a wii but I plan on getting a PS3 when they are more affordable for people like me that only make $6.75 an hour and also 360s are pretty sweet lets not leave them out they are basicaly capable of the same graphics as PS3 and have halo 3 so im probly getting that as well when I can afford it anyways yeh this is what I think sorry my message is so long lol.

FYI you guys DO know the ps3 is 499 for the 20gig and 599 for the 60gig.so actually its not 600 dollars.

FYI you DO know that the 20G version is slowly being phased out. As in some stores have stopped selling them. Others say the have stopped recieving shipments of them. And most recently even sony's online store stopped listing them...so much for that model. Seems like the 60G is what sony is banking on and to be honest I don't blame them. They were probably losing even more money on the 20G version.

Right now we know they are going to release another version of the PS3, one with a bigger hard drive and some other things. Its said this will replace the 599 dollar one and the 499 dollar one will become the current 60gig version. They were not losing more money on the 20gig version, rather, no one wanted to buy the cheap version compared to the one with more goodies.

sony DID lose more money on the 20gig.if im not mistakin the difference is 40 dollars.and the 20gig MAY be getting phased out as you say but its still not confirmed so as of right now 499 is correct.i own a 20giger =)

The market mechanism means that prices will drop as there's an excess in supply. Over here in the UK they don't even sell the 20GB version, there's only the 60GB one which costs the equivalent of $850.
