if you get the red ring twice are you done for?

because i got it twice eariler but it still runs

will it be on and off like this for ever?

if so, how do you just put it out of its misery?

If you got the red rings of death and your console is still working I wouldn't quite worry about it yet. However, if you come to a point where the RROD problem becomes permanent I would suggest on calling microsoft and ask about having your console repaired and have a replacement console shipped to you.

I got the RRoD before, but it turned out it was just overheating.

I have had my 360 from launch date and it's still going strong.

Keep your eye on it. At some point you will experience the 3 red lights of doom, and have to send it back, to try to prevent this from happening, get a fan for it, that's about all you can do, and just hope for the best..

RRoD is caused by the constant heating and cooling of the console, culimating in the motherboard being warped. Cooling devices can help to prevent this.
