Save files downloaded/non-downloaded Wii games

Two years ago I downloaded Skyward Sword and finished it, awesome game. Now I want to replay it, but then in Hero mode, or whatever it's called.
Problem is, I removed everything that had something to do with the homebrew channel, in other words, the downloaded stuff (except for save files). So I'm thinking about buying a copy of Skyward Sword, being a Zelda fan I actually regret not doing that in the first place, but are my save files from the downloaded version "compatible" with the real deal? Otherwise I can't access Hero mode as you unlock it after the first time finishing the game
It probably depends on the version I guess (PAL/NTSC)

Definitely depends on region. A PAL save won't work for a NTSC copy and vice verse. Somethin' terrible might happen if you try to load a save of the wrong region, so don't do that.

Region issues, I've no idea if your saves would work with a proper disc, sorry to say.
