OK well after much trial and error and searching, i finally got a decent http mp3 streamer.
This is probably not worth doing if you dont have a certain amount of tech knowledge but here it is;

Firstly run a Apache http server off your home pc, you will need to put a folder in the Apache htdocs folder with a few mp3s in it just to get the thing working initially

Secondly get "XSPF Web Music Player" from http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/
Follow the instructions on this page to install the program and edit the apache index.html as described. I had some issues creating a working .xspf playlist file but once resolved the player works 100% in the Wii browser, your Wii is now a Media Centre <3.

Ill post a proper step by step guide if people would like, this post is just to let people know it can be done and what to use to do it:)

so your saying the homebrew scene of every console is a waste of time??? i think the good and hardworking people in all the scenes out there coding all the cool apps for psp, ds, ps2 amongst other things deserve abit more respect then that.

I just thought id share this as i found it fun:D im sure a proper nintendo media player will be released soon anyway but this is a quick fun way to get some mp3s playing through your Wii:) hope someone else found it interesting.

ive just reviewed the media player you posted...
it uses apache and a flash media streamer but requires you to convert all videos to flv format... so its pretty much exactly the same as what ive posted here just more customized whereas ive just used existing software.

As for my method being not worth it, both methods are the same both requiring as much tweaking so your statement is completely invalid... perhaps read more into what your posting about before making a post next time:)

Instead of bickering about our favorite tools, why aren't we applauding and supporting these efforts (regardless of whether we use a particular solution or not)?!

Out of all the next-gen consoles, the Wii offers the greatest possibility of freedom and expandability. We already have access to flash games, videos, music, and photo display. This is amazing considering that the console isn't even 2 months old, and then Internet Channel is only a few weeks old.

Yep I applaud all of these media playing software developers for their hardworking efforts. They are all pushing each other further and further and we will end up some very efficient media solutions on our Wiis.

is there any step by step guide ?
i have download the programs but i am in deep s...... right now.:aureola:
