Hi everyone, very new to this but lucky enough to get a wii at christmas and would like to know if it is safe for kids to play over internet and how do I do it? and if it is worth buying a HD lead for my wii, is the picture and sound quality that much better?

Here are some threads discussing the HD capabilities of Wii.
What you would need is called component video cable.

it might make the graphics look jagged:

Someone thinks it makes colors look better:

Playing over internet is very much depending on the game played. But there are no risks to your Wii-console, like viruses or intrusion etc.
I would suggest you to check the gaming-part of this forum and ask there what kind of network-gaming features the games have
(Or "WiFi"-gaming).

Welcome to the engulfing gaming experience of Wii !!!

thanx for the quick response - very helpful, think I'll wait a while though before buying new cable, prob when i change my current TV. Gonna go through internet settings now and see how far I get - thanx again.
