And so they finally spilled. Nintendo has finally confirmed the much talked about price cut for their Nintendo Wii console, and it's happening indeed on September 27 (as duly rumored here). Beginning that day forth, the US$ 249 console will be marked down to -- you guessed it -- US$ 199.
According to the press release sent out, this price markdown will benefit those in North America and Japan. And then on November 15, they're also launching their "World of Nintendo", a novel series of sampling events to further lure more people into the Wii craze.
Cammie Dunaway gives her official statement in behalf of Nintendo:
Wii has reached more video game players than any game system before because it attracts everyone - both men and women, and people of all ages. Our research shows there are 50 million Americans thinking about becoming gamers, and this more affordable price point and our vast array of new software mean many of them can now make the leap and find experiences that appeal to them, whatever their tastes or level of gaming experience.
And speaking of softwares, Nintendo has also revealed the official launch date for the highly-anticipated New Super Mario Bros. Wii. US gamers will get it on November 15th, while European folks will get it on November 27th.
As for the rest of the games you can expect to arrive on the Wii in the next couple of months leading up to the holidays:
Your calendars sure are full with Nintendo.
