The Legend of Zelda:

title.gif

This was the first Zelda title created and a classic example of the action-adventure genre, the game is set in the fantasy land of Hyrule and centers around a young hero's quest to rescue Princess Zelda from the villainous Ganon by collecting the eight fragments of a powerful artifact known as the Triforce of Wisdom.Zelda quickly became a bestseller for Nintendo. The game was brought back for Nintendo's "Classic Series" reissue in 1990, with Zelda II, Metroid, and other high-profile games. The game placed first in the player's poll "Top 30" in Nintendo Power's first issue and continued to dominate the list into the early 1990s.

Zelda II:

Emboldened by the massive, widespread success of the first Zelda title, Nintendo envisioned a radically different gameplay engine for the sequel. Zelda II's emphasis on side-scrolling and RPG-style elements, a significant change from its predecessor, has made it recognized by some as the "black sheep" of the series. Even so, many elements of Zelda II, such as the expanded role of the NPCs, sword techniques, and magic use continue to be used in modern Zelda games.

The Legend of Zelda:A Link to the Past:

Although Nintendo made Zelda II: The Adventure of Link into a sidescrolling adventure as opposed to a top-down adventure like the original The Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past returned to the original's gameplay style. Despite its return to the original's style, A Link to the Past expanded on the original's mechanics, introducing many gameplay features that have become hallmarks of the Zelda series. Such features include multi-level dungeons, the Master Sword, the hookshot, and a dynamic environment with parallel worlds!

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening:

Is an adventure video game developed by Nintendo and released for the Game Boy in 1993. It is the first game from the Legend of Zelda series to appear on a handheld game console.

The Legend of Zelda Orcarina of Time:

The story follows Link, a young boy living with a race called the Kokiri, who is called by the Great Deku Tree and discovers he must go on a quest to stop a "dark stranger" who lays a curse on the tree, and eventually travels back and forth through time to help save Hyrule from destruction by the forces of evil.

Within six months of its release, Ocarina of Time sold over five million copies, and over 7.6 million copies have been sold worldwide. In addition to its commercial success, Ocarina of Time is also frequently ranked among the greatest video games ever made, due to its groundbreaking graphics and free roaming gameplay!

The Legend of Zelda Majoras Mask:

Majora's Mask is the sixth installment in The Legend of Zelda series, which began with The Legend of Zelda in 1986. It was the second Legend of Zelda video game to feature 3D graphics. Majora's Mask features a broader and darker storyline as well as deeper gameplay than its prequel, Ocarina of Time. The protagonist of the series, Link, is placed in the land of Termina, rather than Hyrule, where most of the series is set. A mysterious mask-wearing imp known as the Skull Kid has persuaded the moon to abandon its orbit and crash into Termina. The game sold approximately 314,000 copies during its first week of sales in Japan and it went on to sell three million copies worldwide!!!

The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker:

The Wind Waker follows in the footsteps of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, retaining the basic gameplay and control system from the Nintendo 64 title. A heavy emphasis is placed on using and controlling wind with a baton called the Wind Waker, which aids sailing and floating. Critics enjoyed the similarity to Ocarina of Time, but often complained that the large amount of sailing became tedious. Despite this, the game has met commercial and critical success and is the fourth of only six games that have received a perfect score from Famitsu magazine.

The Legend of Zelda FOUR SWORDS ADVENTURES:
Is a game in The Legend of Zelda series for the GameCube, released in Japan on March 18, 2004, North America on June 7, 2004 and Europe on January 7, 2005. It utilizes the GBA-to-GameCube cable. As with any game that uses this cable, it is incompatible with the Nintendo DS.

The Legend of Zelda THE MINISH CAP:
The game is based around the idea of a magical 'cap' called Ezlo that Link can use to shrink to the size of the Picori (who call themselves the Minish), a race of thumb size people that live in Hyrule. The Minish Cap is artistically very reminiscent of its predecessors The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker as it features the same cartoon-inspired visuals. Link, as well as several other characters in the game, strongly resemble characters in The Wind Waker, although some characters' visuals take their cue from the Nintendo 64 titles The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess:
is an upcoming video game in Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda series, for Wii and the Nintendo GameCube. Originally planned for release in November 2005, Nintendo delayed it so that the developers could add more content and fine-tune the game. The Wii version will be released on the console's launch dates: November 19, 2006 in North America, December 8, 2006 in Europe, and December 2, 2006 in Japan, making Twilight Princess the first Zelda game to debut alongside the launch of a Nintendo console. The GameCube version will be released on December 13, 2006 in the United States, and on December 15, 2006 in Europe. In Japan however, it will only be sold online.

At the Nintendo E³ 2006 Press Conference, President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime described Twilight Princess as “...by far the best Zelda game we’ve ever made.”

Twilight Princess also is noteworthy of being the first Legend of Zelda series game to be rated T for teen by the ESRB, for animated blood and fantasy violence, as revealed on the official North American Wii website.
