They're changing some code using trucha signer.

This tool *was* used for good purposes, like putting Linux onto the Wii but I guess someone found the 'dark' side of the tool to be able to use renegade code.

Yeah and it probably won't work for every character, etc. Like Snake with Falcon's move set would crash the game.
