Can I use a usb cable to connect to the internet?

Hi! I want to connect my wii to my internet, but my wireless internet isn't too strong. And i was thinking, instead of paying 40$ for a wireless usb connector...why don't i just buy a 10$ usb Cable...?

So i was wondering if i could possibly use this:

and connect one end to my wii, and the other end to my computer's usb port.

ive heard a rumour that you can use any usb WLAN adapter to connect to wiiconnect24

Go with the Wi-Fi USB Connector, I have one and it works great.

Is it possibe to use a usb cable thats connected to my internet modem....i have comcast and i use both ethernet and usb on my computer, so im taking the usb out of my computer and putting it into my wii....is this possible?

probably not.

the wii itself probably wont be able to register a simple usb connection as a wired network connection.

nintendo are releasing a usb ethernet adapter, so the wii will obviously support this, and have the drivers to run it.

like a few people have said there is a usb connector for your pc, that allows the wii (and the DS while we're on the subject) and share the internet connection wirelessly. Also as people have said this means the pc will need to be on....

ideally you will have your broadband running through a wireless router that is OS independant, ie it can still route a connection without the PC being on to operate it. wireless routers will often have ethernet ports aswell, or if you had a wired router, then you would need to get the usb ethernet adapter, when it is released...
