I mentioned in another thread I should do this... so here I am... doing it.

Cooking is a bit of a passion of mine - I mean to say I don't get all weepy eyed making a PB&J, but I enjoying exploring more complex dishes, exotic ingredients, special techniques, etc.

We're big into healthy eating, but on the weekends we like to cut loose a little - though, some things (like no transfats, no HFCS, no proc'ed flour/sugar we tend to stick with). Other than that, I will try *anything*.

If you *do* post a recipe, make it one you've actually prepared! Usually some extra incite is fun too (like recipe variants, do/don't do). I enjoy trying to reproduce dishes I've had out (I reverse engineered this amazing artichoke soup from a local favorite).

Hahaha, that's OK, at least those posts were semi-funny :D

Nothing in particular, just general cooking chit-chat!

"special ingredient" !?! Sweet. Fresh ground nutmeg? I've also heard of people adding a little anise :)

My experiences in cooking are horrific..
I set everything in a pan on fire and stood starring at it thinking..what on earth do I do!?
I almost stabbed an overlooker's eye out with a knife..I yawned and stretched with it in my hand..

I got potatoes STUCK in an oven, and burned my hands several times trying to get the flaming things to come out.
I forgot how to make pancakes and threw milk and flour in a pan..and hoped for the best..they turned into a huge burning mess.
I tried to make toffee sauce and instead made rock hard toffee that wouldn't come off anything.
    OH, I CARAMELISED APPLES..into a brown mush..

OHHH, and I tried to melt chocolate in a pan..that was one waste of an expensive pan..

I just realised..there's no recipes in my post..
    Umm,

    Take one can of soup.
    Remove lid,
    Pour into bowl.
    Microwave until suitable.

PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY THING I CAN COOK SUCCESSFULLY

Hmm, I guess it wouldn't hurt to bump this...

    French Toast
    Ingredients:
    Bread
    Eggs
    Milk
    Butter
Cheese (if you want to make cheese eggs)

    Toast the bread
    [IMG]

crack some eggs in a bowl (one egg for every two pieces of toast)

Pour some milk in the bowl and wisk
    [IMG]

Put a pat of butter in a frying pan and turn the stove on to melt it
    [IMG]

Cut the toast in strips of three and dip the strips in the eggs
    [IMG]

Transfer the bread to the pan and cook until the eggs are done and slightly golden brown on both sides.

When finished, scramble the leftover eggs. (add cheese at this point if making cheese eggs)
The eggs will cook very quickly, so work fast.

When finished, put some powdered sugar and syrup on the toast, salt and pepper the eggs to taste, serve with milk, coffee, or juice, and enjoy!

Simple but tasty recipe: Steak Fries

1.Preheat oven to about 425 degrees
    2.Cut a potato into wedges
3.Get a cookie sheet, and put some oil on it.
4.Put seasoning salt in the oil(I use Lawry's)
5.Rub the fries in the oil/seasoning salt mix
6.Put them in the oven for about 15 minutes, then flip them
7.Take out when at preferred crispyness, I like to almost burn them
    8.Enjoy

^Lowrys is the best! I like the spicy seasoned salt.

I want to get the recipe for the batter that Wal-Mart uses to make their steak fries. They are the ****. They have just the right amount of crunch and spice to make them perfect.
