Most local police don't handle computer related criminal activity directly, however usually always called in to assist. Depending on the type of crime you are looking at getting the U.S. Marshals, FBI, and the Secret Service.

The two BIG ones you will be dealing with is the FBI, and the Secret Service. (Click the links to there computer crime related pages.) I do know the U.S. Marshals are used in auxiliary and often the local police are used in apprehension. Who pays you a visit depends on what type of computer crime and where it was committed. With a DOS attack you can expect the FBI btw. Things like credit card theft we are talking the Secret Service.
