Actually I doubt that remote was even on. My guess is that someone off-screen was really playing and the few times the dog moved its arm it was becase of what you stated.

I'm pretty sure the LED is off so yeah, your's and LevesqueIsKing's theory is probably correct.

Also the dog could not hit the "A" button but the LED was off proving that he was not playing and someone was probably moving his arm notice how he was just sitting on the couch and trying to relax and when they start saying get out the hand moves perfectly with the beat but the dog could be trained however I doubt it, it moved in the same motion every time, try taking your arm and moving it back and forth I'll bet it won't go in the same path put have someone move it for you and it might.

Disregarding that evidence the guy could have been playing the dog and the dog the guy, the Mii was probably named Dogg to try and stop you from thinking that if it were true
