EA Sports has today announced the return of the worldwide fitness smash hit EA Sports Active 2.0 (working title). The sequel will feature an innovative wireless control system powered by new leg and arm straps with motion sensors, a heart rate monitor to capture intensity, and a new online hub to track and share workout data.

The all-new wireless control system will enable users to have complete freedom of motion, and the heart rate monitor will use innovative heart rate detection technology to help users measure intensity, providing constant onscreen monitoring throughout the workout and tracking user data over time to optimize performance.

The EA Sports Active 2.0 hub will enable users to track and share their workout data, and it is planned that it will host a global online community of EA Sports Active devotees who can share their training and fitness details, interact with workout groups and message each other online.

At the core of EA Sports Active 2.0 will be total body conditioning using progressive exercise across a three-phase, nine-week program. As with the previous game, the EA Sports Active personal trainer will encourage you throughout your workout as well as providing feedback to keep you on the right path.

EA Sports Active 2.0 is due to be released on the Wii, PS3 and iPhone/iPod touch this fall.
