Elite Doesnt Have Silent BenQ Drive

I was reading some stuff over on the xbox.com forums and one topic was that the new elite doesnt have the silent BenQ disc drive. They came to this assumption by looking at the picture of the disk drive of the elite on IGN.

What I want to know is how do you know your drive is BenQ or not?

Is there a way to identify the production date of the xbox without removing the console itself?

I don't know if the Elite will have the BenQ, I assume it probably does but here is a picture showing how to tell what drive it is.
