Flickering LCD Monitor Problem w/Wii

Hi

I have recently purchased 3rd party component cables to plug into a Component -> VGA Adapter to plus into my lcd monitor. Nothing appeared on the monitor until i figured out how to change it to 480p mode in settings without a display. Once it changed it worked for about 1 second and start flickering on and off on the screen...

Does anyone know what the problem is and how it can be fixed?

can you change the refresh rate on the monitor?

I dunno change the settings on the Wii using the regular cable then restart the Wii with the new Cable? I have NO Idea I have a basic TV in my room lol

ive tried changing the refresh rate on my monitor, however it seems that the wii when connected acts independently to the settings i change while on my pc.

i purchased this cable from ebay (the guy is from hong kong), for roughly 30% of the price of the official cable. my train of thaught was that a cable is just a cable and i couldn;t justify the extra 70% of cost for the 'official' item.

all suggestions are greatly appreciated
