THQ and Curious Pictures today announced that they have entered into a licensing deal to develop and publish video games based on the teachings of Deepak Chopra, MD., renowned author and public speaker on spirituality and mind-body medicine.

Chopra already has several iPhone apps that are very popular, as well as selling millions of books around the globe, and this new deal will bring that same ethos in the form of interactive games to the Wii, possibly via WiiWare, based around Chopra’s mind-body-spirit teachings. Who knows, maybe there will even be a Yoga or meditation app utilising the Wii balance board, or maybe even a tie-in with the next Wii Fit instalment, as Wii Fit Plus already has an extensive Yoga section and even a short meditation game.

THQ has yet to reveal anything specific about forthcoming titles or possible dates of release, but here’s Lewis Kofsky, Executive Producer and Partner, Curious Pictures, talking about the prospect of bringing Deepak Chopra to the Wii:

“We are excited to take the Deepak Chopra properties to innovative platforms that appeal to a mass*market audience. We are*confident THQ will introduce and bring his work to life in ways that will engage his followers and gamers*alike in a whole new way.”

With more and more fitness and wellness games proving to be so popular on the Wii, this move makes a lot of sense for all concerned, can’t wait to see what they come up with!
