To celebrate the forthcoming launch of the revamped classic, Haunted House, on Wii, Atari has released some “then” and “now” screenshots. Can you spot which is the present-day screenshot?! Let’s just say that the new Haunted House has knocked a few of the rough edges off the original 1981 2600 Atari classic. And to think this used to be considered cutting edge gaming! Then again, Pong used to be considered cutting-edge gaming! Aah, the good old days! In the original Haunted House game, Samuel Silverspring was in search of the pieces of a magical urn. Now, as Samuel Silverspring’s grandchild, you find yourself searching for clues that will shed a little light on his mysterious disappearance, 30 years previous. And talking of light, it’s a main part of the gameplay, with players using different light sources to illuminate their journey through the haunted house of the title, Graves Mansion. On your way through the mansion, you’ll also get to find various hidden objects that will aid you in your quest. Players can expect to face pesky poltergeists, scary skeletons, and all manner of creepy critters as they hunt for the four lost pieces of the magical urn, with the ultimate aim of reassembling the urn and defending their family’s legacy.

Still no official word as to when Haunted House will be hitting the stores for Wii, but it should be very soon.
