If you’ve ever wanted to live the fabulous out-doorsy life of a lumberjack, then pine no more, as now you too can experience life as a wood chopper par excellence, thanks to dtp entertainment and their forthcoming Wii game, Lumberjacks. Due in the second quarter of this year, Lumberjacks, which was developed by Panic Button, is the first party game to feature the thrilling sport of lumberjacking, pitting players against each other in a variety of traditional and wild logging competitions. The game uses the Wii Balance Board to precisely determine the smallest of movements, and players can also appear as a lumberjack in the competitions with their own Miis. In total there are 15 different avatars to choose from as virtual competitors, including ninjas, pirates, knights, and aliens.

In the game, up to four players can face each other in five fun categories, including classic lumberjack disciplines such as wood chopping and axe throwing. Probably the most fun part of all will be getting to wield a chainsaw in the crosscut competition. Other competitions include the logrolling duel, where you have to stay balanced on a log floating in water for as long possible, and the speed climb where you simply have to leave your competitors trailing in your dust as you go faster than them.

Lumberjacking also means getting to wield lots of cool tools of course, such as saws, swords, axes, staves and sabres. In fact, the game contains a staggering 240 unlockable tools in all!

Certainly an unusual subject for a Wii game, but it looks like a lot of fun!
