After the title, the screen goes black with a blue sword thing like a loading screen, only it never leaves that screen.

Try cleaning the disc. Since it's not giving you the disc error screen, there may still be hope.

Let's just say it can't be the disc, and leave it at that.

It's worked once before, so I'm not sure why this one was different.

try a different USB loader? Which one are you using? Turn off auto patching maybe?

There are multiple things it could be. What all have you tried?
