Heads up all Kirby fans! The much-loved large pink one is heading for the Wii for what will be his first console platform game since the Nintendo 64 days, and he’ll be sporting a new look based on animated yarn and a world of cloth and textiles. The creative approach is woven directly into the gameplay and enables the ever-morphing Kirby to take on many different new forms. Aside from being stunning to look at (and a bit like Little Big Planet, let’s be honest!), the game world is also extremely interactive, with plenty of stray strands for players to pull on to see what hidden areas they might reveal at the other end. When Kirby literally goes “behind-the-scenes”, the virtual fabric warps and bends to show his location.

Being made of yarn has many advantages for Kirby, as he takes on many different forms and even transforms into powerful vehicles. When Kirby dashes, he zooms around as a motor car, in water, he turns into a submarine, and at other times fans can expect to see him as a massive robotic tank, a UFO and other vehicles. The game is for 1-2 players, with 2 players being able to play through the entire game together.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn is due for release for the Nintendo Wii on October 17th 2010.
