When is the LED light supposed to come on? It seems that mine only comes on for a breif second when i turn mii (lol) wii on.

It comes on for a split second when you power up, or when you switch into gamecube emulation mode.
It glows (if you haev it set to in the config) when you get an incoming email.
People who like it permanently glowing use the email trick. This is when they send themselves an email, but never read it, ergo the slot stays permanently lit.
