whats wrong with northern england? i know nothing about the bad areas or anything like that. if i was to travel internationally, id want to go to every aspect of the country, good or bad

the US however cant be said the same....well...for obvious reasons

To be fair though, can you actually name anything up north that would attract tourists? Fair enough Liverpool and *cough* Manchester *cough* are OK but what else apart from that? The only thing that would attract you to my area (near Sheffield) is if your looking for a fight with the swarms of rabid, inbred morons that roam the streets.

Ah, Nicko, my favourite newbie who challenges what I say. Well, I've always lived in Liverpool and would much prefer living in cities, so I would only advise you really to go to Liverpool and Manchester.

After all, we were totally set out to destroy the massive ego of Oxford:

Well maybe all the things in Liverpool and Manchester can make up for... whatever else is in the north of England. Wherever I've went in England, usually the countryside, I've wanted to come back because I hated it.

But don't give up on the north of England, come to the north, realise it's crap, then travel to Bristol. After you've seen Bristol, tell me the north of England sucks. Bristol is possibly the worst place to go to in England.

I thought Uni would allow me to escape the "Northern Ghetto" ( :lol: ) but I'm only going to Crewe so technically I'm still in the North

One thing I don't miss about living in London though is how many ignorant bastards ya get. I'd forgotten how rude most of them are until I went back down last Sunday.

I went to London of a night time, and it was only for a day, so I wasn't all like, seeking out activities to do or to be robbed out of money shopping. So, I guess I'm just biased. There was no one out, except for about a thousand people who wanted to ride the tube, which I can complain about for hours and hours and hours. The fat and elderly people can't get through those flappy gates in time, you people are crazy.

Apparently there was an air show (or whatever) at the weekend and my aunty went to see it. That's why I want to go to London, all the events are there, most international bands only perform in London, or Manchester, but I still hate treveling to there on a train, then getting back at night. Another thing being, Simon Amstell regularly does his stand up in London for round about £12, but, agh, it costs so much to get there on a train.

Red Bull Air Race. I tried to get over to the Dome in time to see that but couldn't because my train was leaving. Yeah it does my head in when some bands only perform at Wembley and stuff like that.

Oh, I really wouldn't go to London, I think there's much more stuff in Liverpool, and it's a lot cheaper. I'm afraid you'll have to get used to extorsion and people everywhere.

So, anyway, when I went to London I really didn't like it, the tube was full of people and it took us four times to get on a train, because there are floods of old people who come all the time, and you're obliged to let them in first, it's a cruel cycle of life.

People live and work there, the tube is one of the best forms of transport there, and if you act like a tourist you will get treated like one, it happens in any major city you go to.

you as a person visiting london will get ripped off, because you go to places such as oxford street, regent street, bond street.. your just asking to get ripped off round there!

From next year A LOT more people will start coming to the North (well, like Liverpool and Manchester) rather than just going to London when they come to England...the things happening in Liverpool at the moment to get ready for next year look amazing! The hole area, and the outskirts are being almost completely re-vamped! I think more concerts will start coming as well to perform in that new concert arena on the docks, and maybe in a few years if they use Stanley Park (OH yeah!) to host concerts, then certainly more will play there...then when that super-casino in Manchester is built that will attract a lot of tourists, and they're even thinking of doing up Blackpool (how it does need sorting though!). But yeah, I think loads more people will choose to come to the North-West at least, there's even going to be a direct flight from Liverpool to New York
Obviously people will still want to go to London, I imagine that if you live in another country it'd sound really good to go there, but it's nothing special really - a bus tour and you're done! Maybe I'm just being biased though, meh, who cares.

i went there and paris a couple years ago so... go to the imperial war meuseum, tate, natural history, and british (actual name) meuseums. Go to the louvre and the eifel tower, stonehenge, big ben, the grave of jim morrison. Those are the big ones i wish i could give more advice but i have to go. oh...oh...crap...youre already back, that sucks.
