Mad Catz today announced that it has secured North American distribution for its Sanyo Inductive Charging System, which is the only Wii charging system licensed by Nintendo officially. The Sanyo charger is fully compatible with the Wii MotionPlus accessory, and comes complete with two Rechargeable* Battery Packs, which are compatible with both the official Wii Remote and the all-new Mad Catz Reactor Wii Controller. The charging system uses the latest in electromagnetic inductive technology to store and charge up* to two Wii Remotes without the need to remove the protective silicone covers or the Wii Motion Plus. Sanyo’s unique “eneloop” battery technology enables hundreds of charges and is proven to retain 85% of the initial charge, even after a full year of use, unlike NiMH batteries, which lose 50% of the initial charge. The batteries also have low self-discharge, making them ideal for long-term intermittent use. The system also has built-in failure detection, which automatically stops the charge if metal pieces such as coins should break the contact between the Wii Remote battery pack and the charge stand. The system is powered by a USB cable, plugged directly into the Wii, so there’s no need for an external power source. The Sanyo Inductive Charging System for the Wii is available now in North America at store.gameshark.com.
