British Indie developer Onteca has* announced that its much-anticipated WiiWare game, MonsTECA Corral: Monsters vs. Robots, will finally be released on August 16th in North America and Europe on August 20th, for 500 Wii Points. It seems like we’ve been waiting for this game for simply ages, so it’s no surprise to learn that the game has been a full two years in the making.

MonsTECA Corral is all about fast-paced puzzle gameplay, with the player controlling a herd of strange orange critters called Stompies. Your job is to stop invading monsters stunning the lumbering Stompies, and gently guide the beasts safely through each level. As a Monster Herder, the player flies high above the Stompies, attempting to save them from the many hazards they come across on their quest to collect the Energy orbs that are scattered throughout the levels, which increase the herd’s communal power and enable it to destroy buildings, repel the robot invaders, and feed the Astro Maggot which the Stompies use to make their escape.

Using their Wii Remote, players can, among other things, make the Stompies split up and form sub-groups, rescue the Stompies from prison, and, hilariously, make the Stompies jump, shake and fart!

The game also boasts 20 plus levels of full 3D gameplay, with multiple possible Achievements, an up-to-four player cooperative mode, and an interactive soundtrack that changes melody based on player activity.
