n00b alert!

hi im adey, my daughter got a wii yesterday which will basically be for the family in the front room.its black running 4.3e, can somebody educate me as to make this thing all it can be? i have no experience of nintendo at all but have a pc card reader/writer half decent internet and an aversion to spending money! so my new found friends, where the hell do i start?
