Nintendo Announces Mistwalker’s The Last Story RPG-1.052010-01-29 16:12:21Maura S

Final Fantasy fans and fans of RPGs in general have been waiting with baited breath to see what interesting projects Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Mistwalker games development studio would come up with. Well now the wait is almost over, as according to Wired, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced Mistwalker’s first game for the Wii, entitled The Last Story, at a financial briefing in Japan today. Wired reports that Iwata said the following about The Last Story:

“We are working with Mistwalker in order to seek a new form of RPG by choosing the universal theme of human emotion.”

All good stuff! Not sure that “human emotion” is exactly a new theme for RPGs though. Most of them seem to be chock full of it!

The game already has an official Japanese website, although there’s not much to see there at the moment, and what there is to see is mainly in Japanese, of course, including a tantalising hint that says more information will be available in March. Doubtless the Japanese gaming sites will be all over that when it happens. You can also listen to some of the soothing music from the game if you like. It’s going to be a long wait, so might as well make yourself comfortable!
