Nintendo Releases Cinematic Metroid: Other M Trailer-1.052010-03-03 16:37:59Maura S

Nintendo has today released an eye-popping new Metroid: Other M trailer, which can be viewed in all its glory on the game’s official website here. The trailer fleshes out a little more of the storyline, with Samus talking more about her past. According to Nintendo, the game will see Samus finally revealing her own personal story, bringing into sharp focus her “failings, her flaws and ultimately her motivation.” Nintendo also elaborates on the fact that unlike previous games in the series, Metroid: Other M will not just be about all-out action: there will also be more emphasis placed on dramatic storytelling dynamics via the lavish cinematic cut-scenes. The game’s back story attempts to address the fact that fans know more about Samus’s suits and weapons than they do about what motivates her, what drives the woman behind the mask.

Metroid: Other M picks up the plot immediately after the events of Super Metroid, when a baby Metroid sacrificed its own life to protect Samus. As Samus embarks on a new adventure on board the Bottle Ship, a decommissioned space facility, she comes face to face with her first mentor and Commanding Officer of the Galactic Federation, Adam Malkovitch. And if you want to know any more than that, you’ll have to wait and see! It all sounds very intriguing, and there’s certainly no doubting the beauty of the cut-scenes. If the gameplay is even half as good, then this could possibly be the best Metroid game ever.

Metroid: Other M is scheduled to be released on June 27th in North America and Q3 in Europe.
