Nintendo announced today that its going to be offering a new value Wii bundle in October, which will include a re-modelled, more streamlined Wii console, as well as Wii Sports and Wii Party. The new streamlined console is designed to sit horizontally, as opposed to vertically. That’s pretty much all the official news on the new version of the Wii that Nintendo has released at the moment, but Official Nintendo Magazine has further details, revealing that unlike the current Wii, the new, streamlined version will not be able to play GameCube games, and will also not be compatible with GameCube controllers. So basically, if you like playing GameCube games on your Wii, you should avoid the urge to trade in your old faithful Wii for a snazzy, slimline new one. Nintendo also says that fans can expect other new bundles featuring the reconfigured Wii to be revealed over the next few months.
