Nintendo has been giving some lucky journalists attending CES in Las Vegas hands-on time with the Wii U, as well as answering some questions about the forthcoming console. According to The Associated Press, although the tablet controller is a big part of the Wii U experience, you will also be able to use your old Wii Remote and Nunchuck with the new console. For example, during the demonstrations yesterday, four players with Wii remotes are shown to be chasing another player who is wielding a touch-screen controller. The player with the touch-screen uses it to move, so that the other players can’t see what he’s doing. Nintendo also revealed that the Wii U controller will have a built-in sensor bar, similar to the original Wii’s sensor bar that goes on top of your TV to track your Wii Remote. The touch-screen controller’s sensor bar will enable the Wii U to track where the Wii Remote is in relation to the controller as well as the TV. Nintendo says that the Wii U will be released some time after June’s E3 trade show and before the end of the year, and will be bundled with one touch-screen controller. Nintendo isn’t giving much more than that away at the moment, you’ll have to wait until the press conference in June to find out more official details about the Wii U.
