Nintendo today revealed more details about its forthcoming Wii game, Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident, which is due for release on June 27 for an MSRP of $29.99. Developed by Big Fish Games exclusively for the Wii, the hidden-object game revolves around the story of wealthy recluse Winston Malgrave, who claims to have made an extraordinary discovery at his private island, which it turns out is home to a strange dust that may have the power to cure many of the world’s ailments. When he asks for the help of the master detective from the Mystery Case Files detective agency to help him save his beloved wife, Sarah, he opens the door into a world of shadowy intrigue and closely guarded family secrets.

Using the Wii Remote, players must explore Malgrave Island and solve multi-layered hidden-object puzzles to advance the story. They can either play the main adventure on their own, team up cooperatively with up to three other players, or play against up to three other players in one of the three competitive multiplayer modes: Swift Pick, Tick Tick Pick, and Classic Pick.

“Anyone who loves puzzle games or great detective stories will savor Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident from start to finish,” said Cindy Gordon, Nintendo of America’s vice president of Corporate Affairs. “The ability to play with or against others makes it easy for friends and family to throw a mystery party anytime they want.”

Each hidden-object scene in the game comes with a list of objects that players must locate, and for the first time in the Mystery Case Files series, scenes have three visual layers, inviting players to scroll and zoom with the Wii Remote as they search for objects. Each screen also has a special inventory item that enables players to access new areas of Malgrave Island and solve additional puzzles. And there’s always that all-too-tempting hint button for when the going gets really tough, but try and resist that one!
