Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Screenshots Released-1.052009-12-01 13:01:42Maura SThose of us still hoping that SEGA will grant our wish of making Shenmue 3 must for now be content with the small crumbs of comfort to be found in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, in which Shenmue hero Ryo Hazuki makes an appearance as one of the SEGA all-star racers. Apart from Ryo, the game also includes all of Sonic’s usual pals, such as Tails and Dr. Eggman, as well as AiAi from the Monkey Ball games and Amigo from Samba de Amigo. Each character will have their own special All Star move in the game, such as Super Sonic and Tails Tornado. SEGA has released six brand new Wii screenshots today, all of which indicate that the game is on course to live up to expectations. We especially like the fact that AiAi appears to still be stuck inside a ball! In the game, Sonic and his gang will get to race around such locations as mediaeval castle ramparts, tropical rainforests and big cities, including locations which will be familiar to Sonic and SEGA fans. The many vehicles on offer include cars, planes, motorbikes and banana mobiles!

“Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is no ordinary racing game. Its huge variety of characters and vehicles, plus the ability to play both online and off set it apart from other games of this type,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd. “The team have pushed the boundaries on what you would normally expect and created a different and unique party racing title whereby you really can’t take anything for granted!”

Judging by the screenshots, this game could really be a lot of fun, and not just for us Shenmue-obsessed saddos who’re just happy to see Ryo back on screen again, however briefly. Please hear our cries, SEGA, and bring back Shenmue! Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is due for release on the Wii in the first half of 2010.
