I agree that it should have DD 5.1

I have a Dolby Digital 5.1 receiver with 5.1 speakers. Game cube games can do very near 5.1 surround as can some Nintendo 64 games with Pro Logic I. Try games such as Need for Speed Underground II (make sure surround is selected in the audio options). The easist way to hear the effects is to drive with the in car view, your exaust will be heard from the rear surround speakers while crash effects can be heard all independantly from all the speakers.
So its much more than 2.1 as some would say.
However, I was really looking forward to a digital output! Pro logic II is still not 5.1.
