Wii Play Officially the Best-Selling Non-PC Game Ever in the US-1.052010-01-20 18:02:10Maura S

Although cynics might say that the game only sold so well because of the free controller it came bundled with, it’s still a massive achievement that Nintendo’s Wii Play mini-games collection is the best-selling non-PC game of all time in the US, in figures just issued by NPD and reported in MCV today. You might recall that way back in March of 2009 Nintendo announced that Wii Play had exceeded sales of over 10 million units in North America since its debut in February 2007, and doubtless those sales have continued to increase over the past year.

“Wii Play mini-games are fun and they get people playing together,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

The other Wii exclusive games featured in the all-time non-PC US Top Ten are Wii Fit at number 5 and Mario Kart Wii at number 6.
