Eurogamer reports that Trent Oster, ex of BioWare and EA, and now with Beamdog, whose subsidiary, Overhaul Games, is currently developing Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for PC/Mac/iPad, has been tweeting most emphatically about the chances of the game also appearing on Wii U, which are apparently, zero! Here’s what Oster said on his Twitter page about the possibility of the much-anticipated game coming to Wii U:
“We don’t do Nintendo development. Our previous experience with Nintendo was enough to ensure there will not be another.”
Oh dear. It sounds like Oster is not too happy with Nintendo, to say the least! Eurogamer explains that last year Overhaul ported MDK2 to WiiWare, so this is clearly the “previous experience” that Oster is referring to. Later Oster shed a little more light on the situation, also via Twitter:
“My problems with Nintendo are: requiring 6000 unit sales before payment, a certification process that took us 9 months and a 40mb limit.”
Finally, Oster had quite a pop at the Wii, with his last tweet on the subject:
“The result is a belief that Nintendo isn’t a good platform for developers. The Wii is a toy, not a console.”
Harsh! So there you are then, no Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition for Wii U! Guess we'll just have to make do with the awesomeness that is Aliens: Colonnial Marines from Activision and Assassin's Creed 3 from Ubisoft then!
