Few Questions....

I have a few questions on the web page dealing with component cables at best buy LOOK HERE

1) Look at the set "acoustic reashearch - 12` compenent video cable" that decribes "24K gold-plated connectors; oxygen-free copper center conductor; multishielded design" Does this mean is has real gold on it?

2) What does the 12` thing mean? How long it is, or how many?

3) If the 12` is size do they mean the size of the cord?

4) About the blue light on the disk slot. I know how to make it stay on but is it normal for that blue light to turn off right when i turn the wii on even though i havnt read my mail?

5) Wouldnt it be bad to keep that light on all night, because if nintendo wanted to make the light stay on even during game play they would right? So im think making the light stay on is unfullfilling its purpose, so it might break right?

Thats all i need to know so thanks.

1) Yes, that is real gold plating. It turns out that gold is a great conductor so it is used fairly often in high end cables.

2 + 3) 12' means the cable is 12 feet long

4) I thought it was supposed to stay on until you read the new mail, but I'm not sure. Somebody else will have to answer this one more definitively

5) Leaving it on all night is not going to break it. It is an LED, they last forever and barely use any power. So don't worry about it unless the extra light makes it hard to sleep, heh.

Wow real gold eh? Hmm but wouldnt it work just as good with normal component cables?

Yes, they are real gold, but do not buy those it you were planning to. Those are both ends component. Meaning, not one of them would plug into the Wii.

It's such a small amount of gold that it only adds a negligible amount to the cost of the cables, and it really does make a better conductor than you will get on cheaper cables. Of course, if you're like me and your old crappy TV degrades the video signal far more than inferior connectors ever will ... well it hardly matters.

Gold isn't that great of a conductor, it is just the most maluable.

I am not sure if you were being sarcastic or not. . .but diamonds don't conduct electricity. And gold is a good option if you can't afford silver or copper cabling. Gold is really only commonly used because it doesn't corrode very easily.

If people are going to spend $2k on a HDTV, they want to be able to get the best picture. Hence the higher end Component cables.

I'm into high-end hi-fi seperates, and gold plated interconnects make a huge difference to the sound quality............ having decent system components and then linking them with poor quality connections is like drinking the finest champagne from a polystyrene cup!
