How to connect Wii through laptop without Adapter or Router

Hi,
I have no knowledge of wireless connection.Is it possible to connect my wii console through my laptop without a router or wifi-usb adapter.My laptop is connected to LAN-Network,how can i setup a wireless network in my laptop,so that wii got connected also.
I used to see my friend doing this by connected 2 laptops with wireless connection without any router also.1 of the laptop is connected to the LAN and the 2nd laptop get the connection from the 1st laptop through wireless.
Can someone tell me the steps for the configuration because i really have no idea how to do it.

Did you look through any of the other threads before posting that?

It's been answered a hundred times over; if your laptop has TWO network connections, wired/wireless, then use your wired connection for internet access, and use Internet Connection Sharing to share that signal over the wireless nic (assuming you are running xp).

You can either pick up a wireless signal and share it over wired to your usb-to-ethernet adapter on the wii, or vice versa, share the wireless signal and let the wii find it.

You need a router, it wont connect to stailete internet (thats probably what your friend used) unless you get one of those nintendo wifi things but ppl are saying they dont work very well.

you don't need a router, you can make your computer do the routing if you have two network interface cards.

My Wireless Network card is Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection

My laptop is connected thru LAN

Then i configure my laptop
Control Panel>>Wireless Network Setup Wizard>>
Select a task:
Set up a new wireless network>>

Give Network Name(SSID)
>>Automatically assign a network key
>>Tick use WPA encryption instead of WEP
>>Set up network manually>>

This is the network setting given after that:

Wireless Settings

Network Name (SSID): xxx
Network Key (WEP/WPA Key): xxx
Key Provided Automatically (802.1x): 0
Network Authentication Type: WPAPSK
Data Encryption Type: TKIP
Connection Type: ESS

Then i enable my Wireless LAN of my Laptop

and configure my wii

by entering manually setup
>>WIRELESS connection

and try to connect..error 51030 found

So, you set the Wii to auto obtain IP address. Did you set up your laptop to give them out?

okay so far so good it seems. what you need to do is put in the ip info into the wii manually. you got put in the SSID and got past that part from what I gathered, so now you need to give your wii a fixed ip address, something like 192.168.1.x just make sure it's a random number below 255 and no other machine is using it. then enter subnet mask, 255.255.255.0. then you need to enter your ISP's DNS info. i don't remember how to do this on xp, call your isp or google it. then you need to tell the wii that your computer is the router by putting in the ip address of the NIC that's sharing the signal.


that's how it's done, and even then it probably still won't work. it'd be a hell of a lot easier to do it backwards; sharing a wireless signal over a wired cable and just getting the damn usb thing.

Come to think of it, I saw a wireless router for $19.99 in the sunday paper. just go with that - money is much better at solving problems.

not to mention, since we're talking about windows for routing, in addition to being on a laptop, the minute you close the lid and open it again, 10 things are guaranteed to get f'd up, and the wii will spit out another error code.

tried wii to find an access point

entered my ip n dns personally
-failure
i realise the Network key(WEP key) changes to 8 digits after clicking OK
it is allowed to give Network key in 5 or 13 digits when i unchecked "key in Network key automatically"

Would this the cause of it?

Please help...

I'm getting crazy...think will end up buy an USB Adapter...

SoLUTION anyone?
