Jade Empire question

In Jade Empire when do I get to use my weapon, do I have to wait till I kill the enemies on the beach?

Is this when the school is being attacked by ghosts or sumthin I haven't played that game in a while? You can use the weapon anytime you fight enemies. Just switch to the weapon style.

I figured it out. Thanks for the help though. I do have another question...How do you beat the three ghosts in the cave?. This game is pretty hard lol. Is there a technique to killing them?
