So i was wondering, how many of you people would like to back me up in this idea:
My idea is to lessen the amount of stuff that we have with our TVs, as we take aways our DVD players and get the Wii to play DVDs.

I already own 2 DVD players. One Records, the other Upconverts. Plus Downloading has practicaly made DVD and BD almost obsolete. Soon BD discs will die.

Its called a PC

It would be nice to have a DVD player, but I doubt it will happen in this generation of consoles.
Maybe Nintendo might add it into their future consoles, we'll just have to wait and see.

Why did someone say a DVD player wouldn't happen in this generation of consoles. That person needs to buy a couple of Last Gen; Playstation 2 and the XBOX original. I also assume he didn't know Playstation 3 can read BD, DVD, and still read your CDs. XBOX 360 can read DVDs and CDs, but was able to play HD-DVDs for a limited time... (Sobbing) whyyyyyy! I hate you Sony! It was HD and Cheaper!... Oh well, BD maybe dying anyway.

@BluRayPSP

I didn't know PS3 could read DVD's?

How do you not know that, even ps2 plays dvds. The only one that dosen't like to go multimedia is Nintendo. Dsi=aac files for music, Wii= dvd drive but incapable of playing dvds unless you mod it.

@Prinplup,
Don't you love Nintendo for Cheapening the console? Compare that to Playstation 3™ adding Blu-Ray and other Multi-Media capabilities that made it $800 at launch. Hmmm... $1000 Full HDTV or the fat bulky thing that requires an HDTV (or Any), plus I cannot afford a Game to go with it (Plus without an HDTV, its pointless).

nintendo didnt want people to have another dvd playing peoples rooms which i understand because at one point i had 4 dvd players

@FCB10,
A Blu-Ray Disc has 25GB per Layer. Singular Layer is 25GB and a Dual-Layer BD is 50GB.

DVDs have 4.7GB per Layer, and a Dual-Layer is 9.4GB. So BD has 5Xs the compacity of a DVD Disc. So the XBOX, XBOX 360, PS2, Wii all use DVD which is 5Xs less than what the PS3 can read. Gamecube Games, used 8cm DVD Discs of 1.4GB SL/2.8GB Dual-Layer.

Unmentioned:
HD-DVD 15GB SL/30GB DL
UMD (PSP Discs) 900MB SL/1.8GB DL
