Classic SNES platformer collection Super Mario All-Stars is coming to the Nintendo Wii, according to a report on MCV today. It seems that Nintendo is currently working on a Wii version of the much-loved compilation. The original version, which was released in 1993, contained Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario Bros: the Lost Levels, which up until that point had only ever been released in Japan. MCV points out that the SNES versions of the NES games were greatly enhanced, so it’s to be hoped we can expect a similar leap in graphics quality from the SNES version to the Wii version. MCV quotes Japanese gaming website Andriasang as saying that the new Wii collection will be called Super Mario Collection: Special Pack, and will feature all of the aforementioned games, plus a soundtrack CD with music from all Mario platform games up to and including Super Mario Galaxy 2, and a special booklet about the series’ history.

According to MCV, Super Mario Collection: Special Pack, will be released in Japan on October 21st for ¥2,500, which is approximately £19/$30/€22. No word as yet as to if or when the collection will be released elsewhere in the world.
