I will add though that it is cheaper to make 2d games for the DS than the games found on the PSP. Less developement time and a larger user base of kids.

Kids? You have the DS mixed up with the GBA? The DS does very well with adults.

Here's an example of how the DS is actually more popular with adults than the PSP.
The PSP is designed for adolescents. The games appeal to teenage boys.

Also I play RTS games on pc with a thing called a mouse... It is the best way to play rts and a "mouse" only has 2 buttons...

You do realize the lack of buttons found on a wii will prevent it from taking full advantage of such things as online rpgs and more complicated games right? I love the wiiremote for its simple fun, but dont get it mixed up with the other genres of games it wont be able to support.

About the button part.....

Sure that could be true for developers that aren't creative, but there's actually a lot of more opportunity in the Wiimote when you consider it can recognize a full range of movements. I just don't believe the Wii is only capable of simple fun. If people like me believe LoZ TP feels better than the GC version, I'm pretty sure other more complicated games could work too.

Wii is a good console and sold big because it was cheap and made not just for regular gamers, which pulled older people and people that dont reali play games in.

It's the largest selling one on launch day - mostly because there was plenty of stock to go around.

However, we won't know which one is most successful until demands are met. Considering Nintendo is churning out 1 mill consoles per month, and they're still nowhere to be found in shops because of incredible demand, then we won't know how far the "launch" of the console has in terms of how much the consumer wants it.

Also note that PS3's are being sold at less than retail price on ebay.

I've seen Vladd's contribution to Joystiq trying to say that it is a good thing that demand was met so early, however, it's not looking hopeful considering the PS3 are still on sale in shops, and that Sony gave everyone in line (not sure how widespread this is, but I'll provide links in a bit) a 46" Bravia HDTV. Considering Sony are spending so much on the console anyway (loosing quite a bit per one sold) and they were giving away free HDTV's...

Wii sells out in the first week, then has to wait for more to be produced.
PS3 sells 300,000 in 3 weeks, but sold more because they had more in stock.

Selling 300,000 and having extra stock is better then selling 200,000, running out of stock and having to wait which;in the end, means you sell less.

ya but stock anyware is affected by world demand overall.. and overall the demand so far is higher for the wii... they can only make so many at a time... im sure they had no clue it would sell this well...they dont like the fact people are waiting for one to show up... that just gives them reason to pick up a ps3 or 360 thats already in stock...

That's not neccessarily true. It's more to do with demand. If I create a book with a batch of 100, and only sold 20 copies on launch, that doesn't mean I had a successful launch over another book which sells it's entire 75 batch with people demanding more. Indeed, the second week/month may show that the other book sells out again in another 75 batch, bringing up the total to 150, whereas my book could have another 20, making a total of 40 with 160 spare copies on the shelf. Think of the numbers when this trend continues week/month after week/month...

In the end, what it shows is that Ps3 has potential to do more. Whereas the Wii is still being sold out, despite the creation and shipping of a million units per month (soon to rise to 1.4 million). Wait until all three are easily available in most shops, and then we'll begin to see the numbers even out, and see which naturally sells more (by naturally, I mean without limitations on the numbers - as in we can't make more than 1 million, and therefore the maximum we can sell is 1 million).

wii is a little system that doesn't have nearly the technology of ps3 but is selling more because it is "fun" and affordable

all in all, ps3 gives you more bang for your buck

I dont like the ps3 and i didnt get a wii cos im poor its cos i really wanted 1 and i really lik ehtat launch games and games coming out in teh next few months. and i would much prefer to play games on the wii than so shitty PS3 that is 450 odd pounds plus 50 pounds PER GAME!!!! Overall the only thing that would make me get a PS3 would be MGS4 and well im not going spend out that sort of money for 1 game. :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

That's a bit stupid since this is the Ps3 part of the forum. I think the Ps3 is so much better than the wii right now, maybe once online for wii comes out I'll change my mind.
