April 1 was the release date but now in every game related site is giving the new date September 9, 2008 as the release

well september is summer, and it was supposed to be released in the summer as far as I know.

I would delay any big game till late summer now anyways. SSBB and Mario Kart will really knock down potential sales if you released near the same time as them.
You will notice alot of budget and ported titles are planned to come out over the next few months as the bigger titles are pushed back because of the big 1st party releases. No one outsells big Nintendo titles, no point trying.
