It's both, as mentioned by Nintendo Power.

But, since it has a first person view, an FPS with a good story and alot of varying environments.

3D = FPS
2D = Adventure

The 2d Metroid games are adventure games.

The Prime series is pure FPS.

...i made this thread to get the opinion of other users. that's what you DO in a forum, smartass. i realize it's debatable exactly what genre metroid prime 3 fits into, and i was asking for CONSTRUCTIVE input from other people. not your brainless flaming.
