Alice in Wonderland Wii Screenshots Released-1.052010-02-18 21:13:50Maura S

Disney Interactive Studios has today released 12 screenshots from the forthcoming Wii game based on Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland film. The film and the game pick up the story several years after the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass stories, taking players on a topsy-turvy and immersive journey in Underland. All the familiar characters from the books are featured alongside Alice, including Mad Hatter, March Hare, Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit, and all have their own special abilities to help you evade traps and solve puzzles. The Mad Hatter, for example, can help Alice alter her perception of Underland and take advantage of optical illusions to reveal hidden paths and places, whereas the Cheshire Cat can make himself and objects disappear.

In the course of the adventure, which follows the film’s storyline, Alice will come face to face with the Red Queen and her army of cards, as well as Jabberwocky. New story elements and locations will also be introduced in the game, as players collect “impossible ideas” to replay levels and unlock Underland’s secrets. This is what Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios, had to say about the game.

“These games fully capture the magnificent and whimsical world of Underland while experiencing key moments from the film. More than just a retelling of the movie, Alice in Wonderland introduces fans to an entirely new style of innovative gameplay designed to challenge the puzzle solving skills of older players while making the adventures accessible and enjoyable for the younger crowd.”

Alice in Wonderland for the Wii will be released on March 4th 2010.
