Today’s gaming news from Capcom is such a big deal that it was actually trending worldwide this afternoon, or rather the title of one of the games that Capcom announced was trending, namely, DuckTales Remastered. Also announced was Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystaria, with all of the announced games coming this summer to all major consoles, including Wii U. According to Capcom, which released the exciting news at the end of its panel at the PAX East convention in Boston, DuckTales Remastered sees the WayForward development team take the levels and layout from the original 1989 release as the basis of the revamped game, before expanding on them, with the 8-bit visuals of the original game being beautifully recreated as hand-drawn and animated sprites, across luscious, re-envisioned environments. The game will also feature original Disney Character Voices talent, including some from the cartoon TV series, and the classic melodies from the original game, but also enhanced with a new twist. Also added to the revamped version of the classic game are an all-new tutorial level, and Scrooge McDuck’s Museum, where players can track their stats and compare their progress via global leaderboards. Expect to see DuckTales Remastered released digitally this summer.

Turning to Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystaria, this is actually the name for a double pack that features both D&D: Tower of Doom, and D&D: Shadow over Mystara. These two classic Capcom arcade games have been revamped with updated HD graphics and will be released digitally in June. Just as in the arcade games, up to four players get to choose a character class before doing battle against mythical creatures from Wizards of the Coast’s D&D universe, using melee, range, and magic attacks. In addition to the classic arcade mode, players will also be able to use the all-new House Rules feature to customise their gameplay. Other new features include a character visualise, where you can track what characters you and your friends use most often so that you can create a more balanced multiplayer dungeon party, for example. There’s also a special feature for Wii U players, whereby you can use the GamePad touchscreen to choose spells and items.
