how do i use the usb ports??

i tried hooking up my external hard drive to it but i could not access it

I'm pretty sure that the usb ports on the wii aren't for anything yet, expect accesory announcements in the future.

I dont believe its ment for that.

USB Will be ment mainly for Nintendo-brand extensions. Or USB devices that just need power (like the christmas trees).
