Rising Star Games has confirmed that its Wii-exclusive RPG, Eldar Saga, will be released on September 17th. The first chapter of the game kicks off with literally a baptism of fire for the player as they attempt to retrieve fragments from a meteorite that has released hordes of vicious monsters on the land. In the second chapter, the story jumps forward 100 years, to a time when the monsters are about to take over the world, with the player taking on the role of a descendent of the hero of the first chapter.

Battles in the game take place in real time, and the game also features many traditional RPG elements, including character creation, with five basic classes and numerous advanced classes, skills, weapons, and equipment to choose from. Jobs also play a big part in the game, with the flexible levelling up system allowing the gamer to focus on strengths and weaknesses as they see fit. Rather unusually, in chapter one you play as a man, and in chapter two you play as a female!

As far as multiplayer elements are concerned, gamers have the ability to play co-operatively over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection at any point in the game. Sounds good! Here’s Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games, talking about the game:

“The RPG genre is one of the least represented on the Wii, and we’re confident that Eldar Saga sucessfully fills a gap in this market, bringing classic story-driven gameplay. Developer Marvelous Entertainment is renowned for creating immersive gameplay and Eldar Saga is no exception.”
