It’s bad news for fans in Europe looking forward to the release of the Wii U, as according to a report on CVG today, Nintendo is struggling to make the November release date worldwide, meaning that the European release date for the new console has slipped to sometime in early December. However, CVG’s sources insist that Nintendo is doing all it can to ensure that it is able to release the Wii U prior to Thanksgiving in the US, which would mean November. The sources say that the production problems have been caused by issues with the GamePad’s manufacturing process, mainly due to the complexity of making the touch-screen controller. CVG adds that it previously heard back in July from an executive at a major publishing firm closely allied with Nintendo that at one point there were even fears that the Wii U’s European release date would slip to 2013, so I guess we should be glad it’s only December.
