gamecube memory cards

Do you need to have a gamecube memory card to save gamecube games?
And can GC games be played with the classic controller.
I've not owned a gc but I'd but someold games for my wii - but don't want to have to buy controllers and memory cards too... :wtf:

not sure about the memory cards, but i do know that you need to use a GC controller to play GC games

after looking through the forums abit (you should try it) i read that you need to use a GC memory card to save GC games
