    i have looked though the tutorials and i couldnt find what i need if i want to take a particular image

    A) [​IMG]



    or B) [​IMG]

    and take the center image and leave all the back ground behind est and place it another picture how would i do that?

    Checkout the lasso selection tool and play with the settings. There's also a separate "select by similar color" tool.

    Is there a way to make a uniform border or is it just guessing?

    open the image in gimp, hit Ctrl+A or Select > All
    then click Edit > Stroke Selection and choose the size and style of the border

    Render it...lasso tool for precise, magic wand for quickness, paths tool...just experiment.
