Activision has today released new details about the forthcoming Van Halen Guitar Hero game that was announced via a trailer back in August. But before you start doing mid-air splits all over the room like Dave Lee Roth back in the day, Guitar Hero fan, ask yourself this. How flippin’ difficult is that game going to be?! Have you heard an Eddie Van Halen guitar solo? Do you think you could possibly emulate it even in a video game? Do you have 10 pairs of hands? No, me neither. Anyway, those willing to risk eternal* humiliation in front of their friends will probably be interested to know that the game features Eddie Van Halen himself, vocalist David Lee Roth, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, and over 25 of Van Halen’s hits, such as Jump and Panama. Wannabe guitar heroes will also get to try their hand at three of Eddie Van Halen’s most famous guitar solos, including Eruption. Yeah, good luck with that! I reckon the only people who will be able to play that part of the game will be Eddie Van Halen himself, and maybe Joe Satriani and Steve Vai! Other artists whose music is featured in the game include Lenny Kravitz, Weezer, Foreigner, Queen and Blink-182. Featured gameplay modes include Quickplay, Face-Off, Pro Face-Off, Battle, and eight-player Battle of the Bands. The game also has a Music Studio in which players can create, record, edit and share their own compositions.
